Excellence to me looks like anything I’m proud of. It’s taking a long time to get to a point where I’m not as perfectionistic with my work, instead of editing it to death or abandoning it halfway through because I’m not happy with how it came out, I’ve learned to admire the small things I’ve done and the things I’m proud of. For instance, with this video, I did mostly animation and drawings and I don’t think I’m a very good artist but I do like the way the style of how I drew everything contributes to the video. I’m proud of what I made with this project because I really challenged myself with it and there were a lot of moving parts that I’m not as familiar with.

I tested myself in a lot of ways when making this project, one of the most obvious ones being that I did a lot of drawing and animation. Like I said before I’m not a great artist and I had to do a lot of different drawings for this video. I also wanted to add more movement than I usually have so I learned how to animate still images on Premiere Pro, which was definitely a learning curve.

Even though I challenged myself on multiple levels I also played it safe in some aspects. the topic of this video was a really safe choice because I knew that my friends and I have a very good dynamic and are humorous to watch. I knew that it would be successful in certain areas, specifically the topic, which made it a safer play in some way. However, I would say that this video helped me learn a lot more than it helped me practice.

At the beginning of the project, I was going to have animation aspects, audio, and real-life video But because my video is only 4 minutes long and the quotes that were reading are so short it’s hard to have both video and animation at the same time.

I really like the way that the humor came off in the video. The audio coupled with the animation that I did really worked well together and got across the vibe I wanted. I also really liked the lightning-fast pacing I think it would fit the video really well.

I think I could have spent a bit more time making different facial expressions during speech but I had already done so much with the rest of the animation and backgrounds that I did not have the time to do this. But even though they don’t have a wide range of expressions I think it adds to the video because it makes it feel a little more unhinged.

My two long projects for this were very similar. They were both animated videos in a sense but this one just took it a lot further and unlike my first video about Batman, this one didn’t really have a concrete topic or message. It was more for entertainment and humor purposes.

I have linked the video below. Enjoy!
